I am already such a fan of Tracy Feith's line for Target! Her line is very mod, but I'm loving the bright floral patterns and 60's inspiration. And of course the line is not complete without the adorable garden dress. My favorite of this first look? I would have to go with the black and white zip up dress, but the yellow and red print mini is a close second. So on May 17th, race to your Target to pick up a few of these cute items, because I have a feeling they will be selling fast! And is it just me, or has Allie Crandell been everywhere since The City ended? Thoughts?

Ok so I know I'm going a little post crazy right now but my week last week was so crazy I totally neglected this blog and now I'm finding too many amazing things! Right now I'm so in love with Rebecca Minkoff's bag line. Pricey, yes. Incredible, absolutely. And I've found my next bag purchase to add to the ever growing list. This first bag is called The Clutch with Chain Strap, and its also available in patent black. And I'm obsessed! The color, the bag, the clasp, the chain...perfection in a bag. I am also loving the Morning After Mini in jewel purple (my current favorite color!) The Clutch with Chain Strap is going for $330 and the Morning After Mini is going for $595. Splurge a little!

Rebecca Taylor is Summer's Staple

I can't remember the last time I saw a collection that was so impressive overall as Rebecca Taylor's garb for summer. The first piece that caught my eye TWICE was the top pink strapless dress, which I saw at two different boutiques and couldn't resist trying on, even though it was sadly out of my price range. It fits beautifully and the color makes it the perfect dress for summer. If the floral jumpsuit, or playsuit as her collection deems it, looks a little too floral for you, throw a brown woven belt on and tan wedges and you have the most adorable outfit for any day in the spring or summer! Do I actually fear wearing jumpsuits? YES. But this one actually makes me completely disregard my fear, because I think anyone could pull it off. And I think the bottom two pieces absolutely speak for themselves as to why they should be in everyones wardrobe. However, before you get your heart too set on all these beauties, understand that Rebecca Taylor isn't wallet friendly.

Because I'm home for Easter, I have been hitting up the local boutiques at home that I LOVE and found this Haute Hippie dress that I fell so in love with. The frills on the bottom are so flirty and create such a more dramatic feel to this cotton dress, but the cotton top makes the dress just casual enough to be able to wear in so many different ways. I love how it starts as a simple V neck shirt and becomes this gorgeous sex and the cityesque dress, perfect for the summer! I found this one at a shop called M in Corte Madera California, but you can find it also at shopbop for $325.

While browsing through this show, I couldn't help but think debutante meets...morning after? And it works perfectly. Its effortlessly grungy meets elegant, and I couldn't be a bigger fan. This collection seems to have perfectly combined every trend, from slim belts to socks with heels to animal prints to the layered look, not to mention they perfected the look of paired baggy hats with ball gowns, something no one other designer would even think of, but that's why we love Dsquared right? Not to mention they are paying tribute to every working woman out there with their addition of Starbucks cup and blackberry in hand.

update: one of NY mag's blogs panned this collection for being to reminiscent of the Olsens. What do you think?

I'm on a serious shoe kick, and this pair has moved to the top of my list. They are by Topshop, and are unfortunately $170. Not bad, but I am currently on the starving student budget and with the recent Hunter rainboot purchase(I couldn't resist...but sadly I don't mean the Jimmy Choo & Hunter rainboot), these boots are going to have to wait. But can't you just see how cute they would be with skinnies, a white tank and a cropped vest? Or with a casual blouse....oh the possibilities.....

I never thought I would be excited for April showers, but these Jimmy Choo and Hunter rainboots are too delicious to not do a daily rain dance. I fell in love the second I turned to the last page in Vogue and saw these beauties. They are shown in Vogue in brown, which I like better than the black, but I would be equally happy if I had either pair. However, at $395 a pair, I'm guessing I won't be one of the super chic jumping puddles in Jimmy Choos...sigh. Someone tell me I'm not the only one swooning.

Light Reading for Today

Thanks to a fellow blogger's post about her, I found Robin Givhan's Off the Runway and proceeded to read post after post for about forty five minutes, when I unglued myself from her blog only to start blogging about her. Its so refreshing to find a fashion writer who isn't afraid to call it like it is. She gives fair criticisms, and witty ones at that. If a designer sends a piece of crap down the runway, she calls it a piece of crap, not "edgy" or "unique." Not only that, but her compliments are pretty spot on, she's not going to call something beautiful just because its from a known designer. If you haven't yet read anything of Givhan's, go to her site immediately and be prepared to be entertained through all her posts, and for some reason I seem to be happier after reading her column than I was before. Bizarre, but just goes to show that her blog is pretty inspiring.

Ok, after waiting for quite some time to declare my favorite spring collection, I finally found it. Thanks to a fellow blogger's pics of Luella's designs, I pulled up the entire 2009 RTW show and fell in love with every single piece. EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. Luella's spring 2009 Ready to Wear line is absolutely charming. It somehow reminds me of Alice in Wonderland meets tea time meets spring meets fabulous, which has clearly shown to be the magic combination. There are adorable one shoulder dresses that are colorful and PERFECT for spring, and the rendition of the LBD for spring literally has me drooling. My favorite look was the look centered in the picture. From the bright pink hat with the veil to the bright colors contrasted with the simple black pants, down to the pink shoes, I found this look to be the standout of the collection. PERFECT. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.

Elle's latest issue showcased Nicholas Kirkwood's shoe line, which I easily fell in love with. His shoes are beautiful and fun, and best of all, different. He explains his line best when he says "I wanted to make shoes that were the antichrist to pretty pumps and kitten heels." His line is innovative and refreshing, and already amazingly popular...although quite unaffordable. One day right....one day. For now I'll just admire this beautiful line and dream of the day that I will incorporate these shoes into my wardrobe...a girl can dream right?

Everything Looks Better in France

Looking at these pics from Paris, it makes me wish I was indulging myself in fashion in one of the most beautiful cities in the world...yet here I am in my dorm room living vicariously through the internet. Each of these pictures shows such impeccable style its hard to look away. My favorite is the first pic with the black blazer and frilly lilac skirt, complete with ripped tights, boots, black clutch, and a perfect adorable black hat to top it off. And don't neglect to notice how much the glasses add to the ensemble as well. I think the ripped tights are a trend that I can stand to let fade into the past, they really aren't adding anything to the fashion world in my opinion, but the outfit on this girl is so perfect that the tights don't even matter. Another trend I'm a huge fan of, yet didn't have the guts to buy into are the tight leather pants shown. They look perfect with a nice blazer and button up blouse, as well as being glammed up with ultra high heels. And the girl in the cheetah print coat? I think her look is evidence enough that when done tastefully, cheetah is a fabulous (and not tacky) look! Thoughts on these pics?

Spring is coming, and there are so many adorable colorful clothes from all the designers! If you saw this months Spring Fashion issue of Bazaar, I know you are just as excited for this upcoming season as I am. They had flawless spreads throughout the whole magazine, but the ones that caught my eye the most were impeccable and colorful! My favorite looks were from Isaac Mizrahi's Spring 2009 line. My personal favorite of the line is the top picture, which I found thanks to Bazaar. I think this look is so breathtaking with the coral cami underneath the pink jacket with the high neck and the feathered lilac skirt. Perfect. The flirty materials, the colors and the way each look fits the model so well makes this line one of my favorites for spring 2009. Not only this, but the you could pull this look off easily from garden parties to weddings to the office. Versatility at its best!

Goodbye City....

After last night's finale, I will be the first to admit that I refuse to let The City go off the air for some time. The clothes on that show were unbelievable, and although calling Olivia the queen bitch is an understatement, I would never be one to say one harsh thing about her fashion sense. The drama was interesting but the clothes were mind blowing, and I'm not too excited about the return of The Hills and the flat same old drama we have been watching since season 1. Lets just hope LC goes into that sweet little closet of hers and pulls out some killer clothes so at least something will keep us watching. Check out The Cut's blog on the final episode of The City. Balmain's Fall 2009 Ready to Wear collection is UNBELIEVABLE. The futuristic feel makes the collection feel so fresh and modern. I know you are probably wondering where all the color is, but who said color makes a collection strong? This collection rocked the runway with minimal color and was one of the few collections that stuck out to me. Everything in this collection is classic with a modern edge, from the high waisted patterned skirt to his incredible renditions of the LBD. The silver fitted dress in the top left is my personal favorite, but I'm wondering if I could ever even pull it off! Thoughts on these looks?

Sorry for being so off the radar! I just got back from traveling Europe for a week and am so angry that I don't have endless amounts of money to buy everything I saw! There is a street in Rome that has all the stores you could ever possibly want on it. Jimmy Choo, Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci...I could go on forever. I fell in love with an incredible pair of shoes in Yves Saint Laurent, and only wish I had that 1000 euros to purchase them. The shoes inside this boutique were AMAZING! I loved the embellishment of the gold on the black stilletos, and the other shoes were very classic and gorgeous also. Thoughts?

Ready for Europe

While my main reason for going is to visit my friends, I will never be without my trusty camera to capture the street styles of Rome, Florence, Barcelona and Amsterdam. After seeing this glam shot, I am thinking I shouldn't be going without a fitted blazer, and if I do, I better not come back without a motorocycle jacket! FASHION WEEK!

It's fashion week and the shows are looking amazing so far. However, I found the most interesting show to be Jonahtan Saunders line. He has each of his models wearing their hair under a head scarf with minimal make up. I guess he's trying to show off the true beauty of his line and take us back to a more simplistic time? His line shows a lot of metallic materials with accentuated puffy sleeves and tight figure hugging dresses. However, his mini dresses do show a lot of poofy skirts, and seems like princess meets bold sassy patterns. A common theme through all his outfits? BLACK. Black fabric and black tights, so we are happy to say that black tights will once again be coming back with the fall. Am I a huge fan of this line? Not as a whole. Do I think he has some hits throughout the show? Definitely. The pic above was my favorite look from the show. Incredible detailing, yet not overwhelming and I love the mix of the metallic olive green and the sapphire. And I am a firm supporter of designers who go off the board, so Saunders is definitely is given props for creativity in my book.

Allie Crandell...drop the rex comments

I know there has been much speculation about Allie Crandell from The City and the question of does she or doesn't she have an eating disorder. However, I think she has a great sense of style and thats what I chose to focus on...not her eating habits. From her wearing a red flannel top and pairing with a black soft headband and hoops, or her playing up the idea of super dark eyes and nude lips, this model has a great sense of fashion. Its always so refreshing to see a model who truly appreciates the clothes she wears! And by the way, you don't have to be stick thin to pull of her outfits. They would look great on anyone, not just a super teensy model.

Every aspect of Alberta Ferretti's spring 2009 line is glamorous. From the many fur pieces to the chic business suits which would actually make you want to go to the office just to show off your clothes. It showcases the life of a fabulous working woman, with perfect simple dresses for a night out and business attire that screams fabulous. If I could choose one line to dress myself with, it would be Ferretti's spring line, and then I would promptly purchase a gorgeous loft on the Upper East side to match my fabulous wardrobe. Would be nice, but instead I'm a college student who just obsessively blogs instead. Oh well, one day, right? Lets just hope that the designers for the Sex and the City sequel see this collection, because this wardrobe was made for Charlotte! Congrats to Ferretti for actually making pant suits fashionable and appealing, two words I never thought would be put in the same sentence as pantsuit.

Lanvin's spring 2009 line is officially the object of my affection. This line is impeccably designed, with a huge emphasis on off the shoulder pieces (finally!). Gorgeous, colorful off the shoulder pieces are present throughout the entire show with an added fabric clustering at the shoulder, giving it even more sass. Great black minis are also a strong part of this line, as are the ultra feminine suits (shown in pants and shorts). The pant suit pants create a long leg and offset any potential masculinity of this suit by creating a deep V and shorter sleeves on the blazer. I especially love the suit with loose fitting and a cinched waist in the blazer, finished by a prominent and adorable side bow. Lanvin's spring collection has proved that sexiness and femininity doesn't come from super tight itty bitty dresses, and I think I speak for many when I say I am in full support of that idea! So start toning those arms because I'm thinking the off the shoulder look could be the most popular!

Never doubt the power of all black or of mixing blacks and browns. If I hear someone say you can't wear brown with black one more time, I'm undoubtedly going to scream! But fortunately, I don't have to because I think these fashion lovers from Stockholm and New York have proved those ideas wrong, thanks to Stylesightings.com. So next time you're wondering if you can wear that brown belt with that black dress, just do it! Unless of course you put it on and its heinous, then don't. And for those who say all black is morbid and reminds them of a funeral, I say whoever said Morticia Adams wasn't glamorous? A Different Spin on "The City"

As I'm sitting in my dorm room on Sunday night staring at The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin(not finished due to the unbelievable boring qualities this book possesses) which is supposed to be read by my 10:10 am class tomorrow, I thankfully found much more fulfilling and interesting reading material in an editorial entitled "The City Has Utterly Failed Womankind," by Amy Odell at nymag.com. In an open and unabashed writing style Odell imparts supposed "common knowledge" lessons upon her readers that the cast of "The City" seems to have failed to remember. Not only has she hit upon a hot topic among girls ranging from ages 14-25(at least), but Odell is entertaining and surprisingly dead on throughout the piece, making the reader want to actually arrange a meet up for the cast of The City and this harsh writer. Here's a little peek of what I'm reading right now, which by the way, Ben Franklin doesn't hold a candle to (thank God).

"Lesson 1: Consoling a new friend who's just been cheated on.Don't: Look like you're about to laugh. Whitney has Allie over to talk about Adam's possible infidelity. Allie looks like a sad, wet dog. Whitney smiles with her eyes and ever so slightly with her mouth. Then again, how should she know better? We're still not convinced Whitney's not asexual, so we can't imagine she has personal heartbreak to draw from. Do: Convince your friend to dump the cheater and move on to hotter people. We don't understand why Whitney's not insisting that Allie dump Adam's ass, fine though it may be. She argues that since they date guys like Adam and Jay, they have "no choice" but to question their fidelity. However, if Whitney and her City sisters were indeed as fierce as the opening credits suggest, they would realize that healthy relationships don't come with questions, and if they do, they can (gasp) end them. Why anyone would put up with this bullshit is beyond us. "

Now before all you Whitney fans get upset with Odell's criticisms of Whitney, please read her entire piece, because before you can even begin to argue with her you suddenly realize she is right and however much we love Whitney, that girl could learn a bit from reading this piece. And another great part about this editorial? Odell hails Olivia as a smart bitch, bitch though she may be, but hey, I just personally think she's misunderstood. In the spirit of The City, my obsession and hopefully future life, I have decided to pay tribute to Diane von Furstenberg. After looking at her Spring 2009 collection, I realized major props were due to the fabulous designer! This season, DVF is using a lot of floral patterns and best of all, she accessorized each look with a unique Renaissance like headpiece. Now I guess we know why Whitney wore that head piece to The Hills season finale after party, but I think this look is meant to stay on the runway. The entire line is pretty and flirty, but the most important part is that the line is completely wearable and perfect for the upcoming spring. My favorite look? The model wearing an orange dress with a pink multicolored jacket cinched with a chunky black studded belt(second from bottom). Who would have thought black studded belts went so well with spring colors? The entire collection is centered on pretty floral flirty patterns, complemented by a fresh faced look with nude lips and darker eyes. I found the entire collection to be fresh and fun with a definite gypsy inspiration! It has a boho vibe with a little bit more of a classy twist on it, which I think makes this collection a standout among Spring 09.

This is a video for Mary Kate and Ashley's clothing line, The Row, which is basically a bunch of comfy clothes that I really want but definitely made me stop and wonder who would actually spend $315 on a cute v neck shirt when you could spend twenty bucks and get the same one at American Apparel? Definitely a lot less funky MK and a lot more classic Ashley in this line. Supposedly you can find this line at brownsfashion.com, but I scoured that site and couldn't find anything, so guess not? However, considering it was designed by two fabulous girls who seem to have some sort of fashion spell over all of America, from their Wal-Mart shoppers to high fashion clientele, I'm sure they won't have any trouble finding customers for their pricey items.

I do have to say that their cheaper line Elizabeth and James is way more enticing than The Row. There are so many pieces that MK and Ashley would wear, yet you would be able to pull off as well. Although Elizabeth and James is more affordable than The Row, its still pretty pricey, yet the collection has a good amount of basic pieces with a unique spin. Hopefully one day I will somehow have enough extra money lying around to spend three hundred bucks on a v neck shirt, but until then I guess I will just spend my time wishing I could work for their clothing line, or be able to pull off the homeless look as effortlessly and somehow gracefully as MK does.

I could find no other way to express the amazing quality of Christian Lacroix's new spring line than in the words of the ever fabulous Carrie Bradshaw. Christian Lacroix's spring 2009 line is an utter hit, and I'm thinking that the gearing of this collection toward the younger ladies crowd is going to pay off big time! The gorgeous exaggerated sleeves and the colorful and busy( in a good way!) dresses are PERFECTION. The collection ranges from beautiful more appropriate work attire to perfect girls night out outfits. And lets not forget that the LBD of this collection is no longer just a boring black dress, but a gorgeous deep cut form fitting embellished work of art. Thank you Christian Lacroix for reminding us of why we fell in love with fashion in the first place!

Oh One Shoulder, How I've Missed You!

I personally remember the one shoulder look being huge when I was in middle school, but don't worry, it's back in full force, and so many designers have gotten it so right this time! Today I dropped by one of my favorite SF boutiques-Two Skirts, and fell in love with a gorgeous sea foam silk dress. With a black collar complete with a tasteful design of black jewels and a well place black silk flower and a black silk sash on the waist, this dress screamed "TAKE ME HOME!" Sadly, my college wallet couldn't afford it and I sadly had to leave it behind. The dress was designed by a local San Francisco designer Amanda Archer, who has a great collection and a true knack for design. Tweed is such a flattering fabric that it will never go (and has not gone!) out of style...hopefully. This little Forever 21 dress is so perfect with its black knit top and tweed bottom. And the little tweed bow! So adorable! And the only thing better than cute is affordable, and this dress comes in at only $22.80. Throw on a cropped jacket or fitted blazer, pumps (I'm thinking patent) and a large handbag or small clutch (whatever the occasion!) and you're set to go. And if you're a tights fan like I am, throw on a pair of black opaque tights to top it off. Long chunky necklaces would make the look even more perfect! Very chic for very cheap!

Day After Xmas Sales!!

While some find the bustle and hustle of post and pre xmas shopping tiring, I find it to be the perfect daytime activity. Who doesn't love amazing sales and the competitve rush of grabbing that marked down top before the pushy woman next to you does? I found Juicy to have a great sale. My fav knock down? A black bow waisted mini skirt marked down from $200 to $130 AND its available online! Its the year of the mini, so why not take a great deal when you see one?!! I took the deal of a shirt marked down to a reasonable $70. It was a black sleeveless blouse with pleated detailing around the neckline and gold buttons arranged down to the middle of the shirt. A classic piece I can definitely get a lot of use out of.

Juicy had great winter coats on sale from warm wool fitted pea coats to fitted down jackets (long and cropped). Some say Juicy is overrated, I say one of the better sales out there. Definitely one of those days you wished you were made of money...

Here comes 2009! A new year which means new fresh fashions-we can't wait! But in honor of closing down the year 2008, I have decided that Lauren Conrad is the 2008 style icon of the year for gossipless fashion. This year was totally her year. From her simple and chic clothing line which flourished to her own personal style which I personally think is fabulous, she owned this year. From flannel with stilettos and oversized sunglasses to skinnies and suspenders, and of course...stilettos, this girl's fashion hit every trend dead on, not to mention she set a few herself.

I doubt there will be a day that this girl commits a fashion faux paus. Pictured above, a few of my fav outfits. A fitted red dress with a casual cardigan makes the outfit completely day appropriate, and a skinny black belt with an attached flower spices it up. And lets not forget the ever classic Chanel quilted bag, which makes her even more of a fashion queen in my eyes. One trend I will never let die? Oversized sunglasses, which Lauren is also a huge fan of. Another fav? Lauren at an event in a two tone sleeveless dress, with gorgeous detailing in the bust area and a fitted purple skirt to top off the outfit. And of course we love that she chose to pair it with black tights. And lets not forget her own fashion line, which we find perfect in such a simplistic classic way. We love that this girl never seems to forget that simplicity is always best. She definitely takes a page out of Coco Chanel's book, and we like it!

Going from day to night can be tricky, but the high waisted skirt is any girl's friend. It's so easy to take the high waisted skirt from day time to night in such easy ways! I found some great high waisted skirts, some staples for any wardrobes, and some more sassy ones for occasions. My personal favorite is the Sara Berman Frill Pocket Tulip Skirt( shown in black, left). This can be found at Nordstroms. This also comes in midnight and gold, and the gold is my personal favorite. Pair it with a white tank, blazer and flats for an easy day style, and easily change it to nighttime attire by putting on a pair of pumps, a blouse and a heavier fitted jacket. Voila! For an extra effect, pair your skirt with a contrasting pair of tights.

Another great find, Lauren Moffat Waist Detail Skirt ($269, shopbop.com, middle). This skirt is stunning and would be a perfect outfit for a fun holiday party.

The Trina Turk High Waist plaid skirt($179, nordstroms.com, right) skirt is perfect for a more subtle find. While less flashy than the other options, this skirt is ultra flattering as it tucks into the waist at your smallest torso point. I know the majority of people are on a short lived "green kick," but lets remember that this earth can't handle all the crap we are putting into it, so please, recycle that plastic water bottle and resist the urge to toss your napkin out of the car window. Not only this, but there are great clothing lines that boast eco-friendly fashion. Check out the eco friendly section of shopbop, or check out my favorite eco-friendly brand, Zooey(pictured above). Their shirts fit excpetionally well and are definitely a good conversation starter! Utter Simplicity, How Refreshing

Lauren Conrad's line has been bashed by some critics, claiming her line is too overpriced for its simple style. I am on the other side of the argument, and cannot say enough good things about her line. The thought of simple beauty has been buried in our culture, and I find it refreshing to see a line dedicated to the idea of "less is more." So please ladies, have some faith in our Laguna Beach Alum and pick up a few of her pieces. They are timeless that you will undoubtedly have in your closets for years to come. Don't knock her pieces till you own a piece. What better trend to bring back than the idea of true clean fashion.

Whoever thought this country would see another First Lady as stylish and confident as the lovely Jackie O? Michelle Obama's style has proven consistently fierce while appropriate, as well as proving her to be a force to be reckoned with. Her timeless dresses she has worn on the campaign trail and in her and future President Obama's victory speech has proven that we have another timeless style icon about to be a figurehead for this nation. And who cares if her style is a topic of discussion. This shows that our country is once again starting to take notice and have some faith, and if that resides in her fashion sense, then so be it. Heres to the future!

'Tis The Season

Since it is the holiday season, everyone is very aware of that extra baggage that comes with it...that baggage being five pounds of extra you! Never something to freak out over, the battle of the holiday bulge comes around every year around the Holidays, and NO I am not here to discourage you from eating that stuffing or piece of delicious pumkin pie. So instead of freaking out about our extra, miniscule amount of poundage, lets learn to DRESS it. Remember, fitted outfits never bode well when good amounts of turkey and pie are to be eaten that night, not to mention fab cocktails. Some of the season's best looser fitting tops are absolutely gorgeous this year, starting with Diane von Furstenberg's line (shown), as well as a Generra cotton dress, both available from Shopbop. Please remember ladies, that loose does NOT mean unflattering and simplicity is sometimes more beautiful than fancy detailing. Enjoy your holiday eats please!
